Stretch of of Trans-Canada Highway from Surrey to Abbotsford named 'Highway of Heroes'(Posted:10/31/2011) BC: A stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway is being dedicated as the Highway of Heroes to honour B.C.'s 12 Canadian Forces members killed in Afghanistan, as well as one killed in Croatia in 1994.
The section of the highway, between the 152nd Street exit in Surrey and the Sumas Way exit in Abbotsford, will be unveiled Saturday during the second annual Memorial Ride for the Fallen.

New Moose Alarms along Trans-Canada(Posted:10/17/2011) NL: West of St John's, the first wildlife detection system is up and running along the Trans-Canada Highway, along the 1.5 kilometer stretch east of the Salmonier Line interchange, says The Department of Transportation.
The system uses sensors to detect when large animals are on the highway, turning on flashing lights on a sign "Moose on Highway When Lights are Flashing" for two minutes
By the end of October, a second wildlife detection system will be installed near Grand Falls-Windsor, and wildlife fencing will be installed along the west coast.

Repairs to the Malakwa Bridge, east of Sicamous, will run from 9:30 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
A detour is available via Highway 23 South between Revelstoke and Nakusp using the Upper Arrow Lakes ferry, and via Highway 6 between Nakusp and Vernon using the Needles Arrow Lake Ferry. New Wind Warning signs to advise on Newfoundland's "Wreckhouse winds" (Posted:11/22/2010) NL: Mayor Brian Button and Tom Hedderson, minister of transportation and works, unveiled digital warning signs on the Trans-Canada Highway on Nov. 12.
